Old-School Hospitality, Modern Payments: qlub at Cesare Ristorante

Cesare Ristorante opened to immediate demand from a loyal clientele that had followed owner Cesare Vietina for decades. With the intimate dining room and patio fully booked night after night, the final step of the evening — settling the check — became the one moment where the restaurant’s seamless hospitality could stall.

Key Challenges

End-of-Night Check Delays

In a full dining room with guests lingering over dinner, servers balancing tableside service with payment runs meant diners could wait noticeably to receive and settle the check — a jarring end to an otherwise polished evening.

Preserving Discretion in Fine Dining

Cesare’s clientele expects understated, personal service. Handing over cards, waiting for the check to return, and prompting for gratuity all risked disrupting the refined atmosphere the restaurant is known for.

Reconciliation Overhead

Manual payment handling added time and the potential for discrepancies to end-of-night close-out — effort better spent on guests.

Weekend Table Availability

With reservations in high demand, every extra minute a table sat occupied after the meal ended was a missed opportunity to welcome guests from the waitlist.

Overview

Cesare Ristorante brings the flavors of Forte dei Marmi, Tuscany, to the edge of Beverly Hills. Owned by veteran restaurateur Cesare Vietina — who for decades helped define California Italian fine dining at the legendary Madeo — the restaurant is known for its handmade pastas such as ravioli in salsa rosa, signature pinsas, risotto ai porcini, veal Milanese, and grilled branzino, served in an intimate room of low lighting, leather booths, and white linens, where regulars are greeted byname. To keep that experience flawless from the first greeting to the final goodbye, Cesare partnered with qlub.

THE SOLUTION

qlub was implemented to elevate — not interrupt — the restaurant’s old-school style of service.

Elegant QR Code Payments

A discreet qlub card is presented with the bill, allowing guests to review and settle the check privately from their own phones, whenever they’re ready — no flagging down staff, no handing over a card.

POS Integration

qlub connects directly with Cesare’s existing POS, closing bills automatically upon payment and eliminating reconciliation discrepancies at the end of the night.

Suggested Tip Feature

Pre-set gratuity options let guests recognize great service effortlessly — without staff ever having to raise the subject.

THE RESULTS

qlub quietly transformed the close of every evening at Cesare.

~6 Minutes Saved Per Table

Guests now settle the check at their own pace and depart without delay, cutting roughly six minutes from the end of each meal and releasing tables sooner on fully booked nights.

+8% in Tips

Suggested tipping lifted gratuities by around 8% for the service team —approximately $4,400 more per month across an already strong tipping base.

+15 Five-Star Reviews Every Month

The post-payment review prompt added roughly 15 additional five-star Google reviews a month — around 180 a year — building online credibility for a restaurant still early in its life.

~$19,900 Saved Annually on Card Processing

With high average checks moving through qlub, the restaurant reduced its effective card processing costs by an estimated $825 a month.

Cleaner Nightly Close-Outs

Automated bill closure removed the time and errors involved in reconciling payments at the end of service.

A LOOK AHEAD

Cesare Ristorante proves that heritage hospitality and modern payment technology are natural partners. With qlub handling the mechanics of the check, the team is free to do what the Vietina family has done for generations — make every guest feel like the most important table in the room.
