Culver City’s Indian Favorite Turns Up the Efficiency with qlub

A Culver City institution for authentic Indian cooking, Mayura serves everything from a bustling lunch buffet to large family gatherings and group dinners. As demand grew, the family-run team found that the payment step — especially for big tables and busy lunch periods — was slowing service and stretching staff thin.

Key Challenges

Peak Lunch Pressure

Weekday lunch draws a steady stream of local professionals and regulars who need to eat and get back to work. Queuing to pay, or waiting for a busy server to bring the check, created frustration at the most time-sensitive part of the day.

Large Group Payments

Family-style dining and group celebrations frequently ended with complex split-bill requests, tying up staff and increasing the chance of billing errors.

A Lean, Family-Run Team

As a family-owned restaurant, Mayura runs a tight operation. Every minute staff spent processing payments and reconciling bills was a minute taken away from guests.

Reviews Lagging Behind Reputation

Beloved by regulars and long praised by critics, Mayura still saw only a fraction of its satisfied guests translate that goodwill into online reviews.

Overview

Mayura is a family-owned and operated Indian restaurant on Venice Boulevard in Culver City. Founded by chef Dr. Padmini Aniyan, it specializes in South Indian cooking from the coastal state of Kerala — a regional tradition rarely found in Los Angeles — alongside the wider range of Indian classics guests know and love. With separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian kitchens and recipes rooted in traditional home cooking, Mayura is known for dishes such as the ghee roast dosa, cheese and vegetable uthappam, Kerala-style fish curry with appam, and its daily lunch buffet. To protect its warm, personal style of hospitality while serving ever-larger crowds, Mayura turned to qlub to modernize the way guests pay.

THE SOLUTION

qlub gave Mayura a simple, staff-light payment flow that fits the restaurant’s family-run character.

QR Code Payments at the Table

Guests scan a qlub code to view and settle their bill instantly from their phones — no waiting on a server, no queue at the counter during the lunch rush.

Three Ways to Split the Bill

Large parties can divide the bill by amount, by person, or by item in seconds, taking the arithmetic — and the errors — out of group dining.

POS Integration with Automatic Bill Closure

Payments sync automatically with Mayura’s existing POS, closing bills the moment they are paid and simplifying end-of-day reconciliation for the family team.

Integrated Google Reviews Feature

A post-payment prompt invites diners to leave a Google review, converting decades of goodwill into growing online visibility.

THE RESULTS

The impact was felt immediately — by staff and guests alike.

~9 Minutes Saved Per Table

Guests on a tight schedule can now pay and leave the moment they’re ready, cutting roughly nine minutes from each visit, easing lunchtime congestion and turning tables faster during the busiest hours.

+18% in Tips

Suggested tipping made it effortless for guests to show appreciation, lifting gratuities by around 18% — approximately $4,000 more per month for the team.

+30 Five-Star Reviews Every Month

The post-payment review prompt added roughly 30 additional five-star Google reviews a month — around 360 a year — finally bringing Mayura’s online presence in line with its decades-old reputation

~$15,400 Saved Annually on Card Processing

Moving the bulk of payments through qlub reduced Mayura’s effective card processing costs by an estimated $450 a month.

Less Pressure on a Small Team

With payments self-served and bills closing automatically in the POS, the family and staff spend less time on transactions and reconciliation and more time doing what Mayura is known for — personal, generous hospitality.

A LOOK AHEAD

For a restaurant built on tradition, technology has to earn its place at the table. qlub’s discreet, self- service payments let Mayura serve its beloved Indian cooking to more guests without losing the family warmth at its heart — and position the restaurant to keep growing its reach across Los Angeles.
